“Places We Meet is an interdisciplinary exhibition that was shown at Pigalle in Grønlandsleiret 15 in Oslo.
Through an exploration of how sculptural approaches and performative stagings can create space for new communities of opinion and constellations for the future, the exhibition uses the house as a frame.
From its construction in the late 19th century, the building in Grønlandsleiret was closely linked to the working class community and was an important meeting place, which people used daily. Throughout time, the building has housed many different things, but most of all it has been a meeting place: a folk theater, beer hall, restaurant and secret meeting place for queers. It has hosted boxing matches and political meetings, as well as a nightclub.
In a city that is forever changing, you are invited to join us in a universe of stillness and longing.”
